Which Products Should Be Avoided and Used During the Winter?
Winter Skin Care
At the Miami Center for Dermatology, we understand the importance of maintaining spectacular skin throughout the year. We take into account all the holidays and their different types of weather and temperature features. Though all of our products are highly effective in helping transform the overall quality and appearance of your skin, we also know that some should be avoided during the colder winter months. Winter Skin Care is important because if you make even one mistake, you put your skin at risk of becoming dry and cracked as well as risking the development of conditions such as rosacea, psoriasis, and eczema!

Cleansers: We have many effective and different types of facial cleansers that help your skin! BUT, the type of cleansers that should be avoided are any gel cleansers, such as our Benzaderm Gel or Epionce Lytic Gel Cleanser. These cleansers work wonders on your skin, but should be avoided during the winter because they are much harsher on the skin than other cleansers. Winter Skin Care we recommend would be to use our more moisturizing cleansers that have a more soap-based foundation, such as our Antioxidant Moisturizing Cleanser, and our Ultra Gentle Cleanser.
Sunscreen: We always urge our patients to make sure they wear sunscreen, no matter what time of the year it is! It is an extremely important part of your Winter Skin Care routine! Even if it is cold outside, the sun is still shining. Some of our best sun protection products include our Super Sheer Cream Sunscreen and our Daily Replenishing Sunblock SPF 36 that have a creamy foundation that is able to moisturize your skin while protecting it.
Moisturizer: Entering the cold without moisturizer can put your skin at risk of becoming dry and cracked. Easily avoid that with our moisturizing products such as our Ultra Lite Facial Cream and our Ultra Lite Moisture Dew that can easily hydrate your skin for healthier results!
Masks: Skin care masks can be a great way to remove excess oil from your skin and tighten your pores. BUT, during the winter, the cold air alone can do just that! Avoid masks during the skin that can add higher risk for dry skin during the winter.
Exfoliation: We always recommend exfoliation at least 3 times a week, but for the winter, we think it is best to exfoliate only once a week to not risk overly drying or cracking your skin because of the colder winter air. Avoid the Green Tea & Bamboo Exfoliator, and just use the Green Tea Exfoliator for best results!
Gly/Sal Pads: These products work wonders on those with acne, but should be avoided during the winter. They can remove oil from your skin that is necessary during the winter, and they can also cause peeling and dryness if used during these next colder months.
